Gilberto Silva, employee of Aço Cearense Comercial and cyclist from Ceará sponsored by the Aço Cearense Institute, has been increasingly prominent in state and national competitions. In the last competition, held on the 12th in Ubajara, Ceará, he won first place in the elite category of the Ibiapaba Cup, according to both the Ceará and Brazilian rankings. On February 12th, he competed in Pacajús, Ceará, receiving the Vereador J. Neto Trophy and also took first place in the Promotional Race. In Aracati, he competed in the Desafio dos Ventos (Wind Challenge) and once again achieved first place on the podium on the 5th of the same month.
In January of this year, the athlete participated in the traditional Piocerá 2017 rally held in the states of Ceará and Piauí, counting towards the national ranking, where he finished 4th. The athlete's current position is 3rd in the national ranking and he is the leader in the State ranking.
Gilberto travels throughout Brazil in official cycling competitions, both as a paracyclist in the C5 category and as an elite cyclist, as his physical disability allows him to compete in both. His next national ranking competition will take place on May 7th in Piauí, at Hally 40 Graus.
