The companies of the Aço Cearense Group maintain a consistent and responsible approach to waste management and compliance with environmental legal controls, focusing on monitoring waste disposal, reducing waste generated, and fully complying with applicable legal obligations. This approach is aligned with the continuous pursuit of operational efficiency and environmental performance.
Recognized as the largest steel recycler in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, the Aço Cearense Group develops its operations from the perspective of the Circular Economy, prioritizing the reuse of materials and the efficient use of natural resources. This concept is incorporated into the production processes and environmental practices adopted in its industrial units.
At SINOBRAS, the Group's steel mill located in Marabá, Pará, steel production is carried out primarily from recycled materials. Approximately 70 percent of the metallic charge used is composed of scrap metal, complemented by 30 percent of liquid pig iron, contributing to the reduction of natural resource consumption and emissions associated with the production process.
Waste management in the Group's companies is conducted through structured methodologies that allow for continuous monitoring of generated volumes, identification of reduction opportunities, and the guarantee of environmentally sound disposal, ensuring traceability and compliance with current legislation.
A practical example of this approach occurs at SINOBRAS, where, in the sintering process, the co-products generated during steel production are reused in the manufacture of sinter. This material is used as raw material, partially replacing iron ore in pig iron production and promoting the internal reuse of waste.
Through these practices, the Aço Cearense Group continuously demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and socio-environmental responsibility, integrating industrial performance and environmental preservation.
